Right to Repair Farm Equipment Act
This bill prohibits agricultural equipment manufacturers from restricting independent repair of farm machinery through software locks, proprietary diagnostic tools, or warranty voiding. Farmers would have the legal right to repair their own equipment or hire any repair service of their choosing.
Modern farm equipment increasingly relies on proprietary software that only manufacturer-authorized dealers can service, creating monopoly repair markets that charge excessive fees and cause costly delays during harvest season.
